Obituary of Karin Doris Canner

Karin Doris Canner of Bellmore passed away in the early morning hours of August 18, 2016 after losing her valiant fight with cancer. Beloved wife of Michael Canner. Cherished mother of Andrew Hansen. Loving daughter of Lynn and Todd Hansen. Beloved sister of Gretchen (Ronald) and Kristin. Also survived by Michael's daughters, Kirstin and Morgan, and loving nieces and nephew, Michael, Nicole, Amanda and Halley. Karin was a kindergarten teacher at Fairport Central Schools where she provided constant fun and support to her students. She truly enjoyed teaching and taking them on many field trips. Her constant positive attitude and calm demeanor made her students --and everyone else around her--feel safe. Karin enjoyed playing golf with her husband and attending football games. She basked in the excitement of fans cheering in the stands, but never tried to stand out. She was comfortable hanging in the background, in fact, she reveled in it. She never had a bad word to say about anybody. Karin was always willing and able to lend a hand to anyone, anytime, even when she was the one who needed a hand the most. Karin never complained during her time of suffering. She constantly thanked the nurses for their hard work in making her as comfortable as possible. She was so thankful to everyone at the end of her life and wanted to enter heaven and meet God on her terms. She never expected much from anyone, she just wanted to make people happy--and she truly did. Karin will be remembered as a great friend and sister, a loving mother and daughter, and a wonderful wife. She never wanted to be the star of anyone's life, but she was one to everyone around her. Friends and family may visit Friday 1:30-3:30 PM and Saturday 8:00-9:45 AM at Clair S Bartholomew & Sons, 302 Bedford Ave in Bellmore, NY.
