Peter Emmett Meenan passed away on January 27, 2017. He married and remained devoted to his love Margaret Elizabeth for 57 years. Loving father of Peter (Lynn), Mary Ellen (Phil), Thomas (Denise), Theresa (Kevin), Patricia (Joseph), Kathleen (Kevin), Margaret (Roger), and Daniel (Jen). Cherished Grandfather to 20 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank, Patrick, Michael, and Thomas and is survived by Christopher. He was a proud Irish Catholic and dedicated his life to serving his family, country and church. He was a graduate of Rice High School and served his country with honor in the Unites States Army. After the army, Peter, like his brothers Michael and Patrick kept law and order on the streets of New York City. Before retiring as a Sergeant, he worked many cases including the capture and recovery of the Star of India from "Murph the Surf". He was an active parishioner of Saint Barnabas Parish for over 54 years including maintaining the grounds of the church, school, rectory, and convent after his retirement from the New York City Police Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. Peter will be missed dearly by his family and friends. His tremendous character forged by his love and caring for his wife and his great sense of humor remains with all of us.
