Roy Weinman

Obituary of Roy Alan Weinman

Please join us in honoring the memory of Roy Weinman – beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, Lion, and friend.  Roy grew up during the difficult times of the Great Depression, growing up at his father’s knee in Weinman’s Hardware which was just getting off the ground during these trying years and graduating locally from W.C. Mepham High School.  When America joined the Second World War, Roy enlisted with the army and served as an Engineer in the Pacific Theater, with an extended term of service in the Philippines.  After the war he attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and then returned to Bellmore at which time his father transitioned the business to him.  In 1969 he married Myrna Friedman, and has had 4 children – Michael, Beth, David, and Gail, and one grandchild, Valerie.  In the ensuing years Roy has been an integral part of the community in Bellmore, with a long history of service in the Bellmore Lions Club.  Over the years Roy has touched many people, and his gentle, soft-spoken manner has had an impact that will long outlive him.  Roy will be sorely missed, and he will live on through the fond memories of all those who knew him.

The family has requested that there be no flowers sent to the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Roy's name to the Bellmore Lions Club.
