Pauline Curtin

Obituary of Pauline Mary Curtin

On November 22nd, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones, Pauline Mary Curtin, cherished Wife (for over 50 years), Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend went to join our most Heavenly Father.

Born in Manhattan, NY on April 29, 1944 to Frank and Lucy Hahnel, Pauline lived in NYC until she moved to Wantagh, NY in 1976 with her husband Dave, son David and daughter, Laurie Ann.  Wantagh is where she would spend the remainder of her life making a wonderful home for her family and a multitude of cherished, life-long friends.

Pauline is pre-deceased by her treasured mother Lucy, gentle father Frank, beautiful sister Veronica, precious nephew Francis, her beloved in-laws: David, Dorothy, Dennis and Dottie, and many cherished friends whom she considered family (Cathy, Mildred, John, Mary, Laura, Anne, Kira, Louise and Sierra).

Pauline is survived by her loving family: husband Dave, son and daughter-in-law: David and Theresa, daughter and son-in law: Laurie Ann and Brian, and her grandchildren: Ryan and Madaghan, along with a multitude of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Pauline was an editor for Popular Science Magazine in the 1960’s when she decided to leave her career to become a full-time homemaker for her husband, son, and daughter. She put her heart and soul into what she was passionate about, her family. As she raised her children, Pauline was an active member of her community, serving as a religious education teacher for Saint Barnabas and as a girl scout leader for many years. Pauline was also an active member of the PTA and an amazing, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For those who knew Pauline, they can attest that she was selfless, strong, and a devout Catholic woman who prioritized others' happiness above her own.   Pauline leaves her family with an immeasurable amount of treasured moments and memories. And in these memories she continues to be the perfect example of an exuberantly generous and loving person.  Pauline was kind and loving to all she met and made everyone who knew her feel like family. Pauline lived a major part of her life dealing with pain, but she never let that get in the way of enjoying her family and always ensured their happiness over her own. Pauline loved her family more than anything else and it was evident in every aspect of her life. The Lord gained a warrior on November 22nd and her family lost an angel on Earth. Mom will never be far, no doubt, as her greatest desire is our happiness and safety.

Please join us in celebrating our angel and laying her to rest:
