Obituary of Michael Patrick Hennessy

Michael P. Hennessy (1955-2023) Michael Patrick Hennessy passed on July 26, 2023 in New Hyde Park, NY. Michael, age 67, was born on October 1, 1955 in Rockville Centre, NY, to Hugh J. and Patricia Hennessy. Michael grew up on Hendricks Avenue in Bellmore, Long Island with his nine siblings and spent summers in Huletts Landing on Lake George where he made lifelong friends. Michael graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh and entered the United States Air Force in November 1981 where he served as a fighter pilot, flying the F-15 C. He served with distinction for eight years, receiving numerous decorations and awards, and separated from service as Captain in 1990. Michael then became a pilot for American Airlines where he worked for almost 30 years, retiring in 2020 as Captain. Michael is survived by his wife Agnes, and their children Ashlee and Taylor, and his children Caitlin and Michael, and their mother Karen Maenza Hennessy. He is also survived by many siblings, nephews and nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces. Michael was charismatic and outgoing and was quick with a joke or quip. He had a passion for fast cars and was dedicated to his pups Chula, Macho, Divina, and Rico Suave. Michael will be dearly missed by his family, friends and former colleagues. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday August 2, 2023 from 4-8pm and on Thursday, August, 3, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Clair S. Bartholomew & Son, Inc. at 302 S. Bedford Ave., Bellmore NY. A Mass of Christian burial to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 4th, 2023 at 10am at St. Barnabas R.C. Church 2320 Bedford Ave., Bellmore, NY. Burial to follow in Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY.
