Fond Florida Memories
We always were very excited and looked forward to our Aunt Dolores visiting us in Florida. The fun and laughter started from the time we picked her up until we dropped her off at the airport.
We enjoyed doing many things, eating out, playing bingo, sitting around talking and laughing, watching TV and going to church. Our favorite past time was shopping. Most visits we had to buy another suitcase so she could take her new purchases back to NY.
On her 2017 travels Aunt Dolores came to visit my second grade classroom for a few hours. My students were so excited to meet their teachers aunt. The students read the story called, Horace, Morris But Mostly Dolores. It's not often the name Dolores is of a cute mouse character in a story and the wonderful person sitting next to you is also called Dolores. The students thought that was really amazing.
Aunt Dolores participated and took a second grade math test on money skills with the students. We graded the test together and started sharing scores. Two girls were hugging Aunt Dolores and all three of them were laughing hysterically. I asked what was so funny over there? Aunt Dolores laughing and trying to talk said, "I missed two questions." The students told her it was okay she got some wrong because she was a grandma. Then the whole class had a laugh and some students started to tell Aunt Dolores there's nothing wrong with getting a B.
I know Mrs. Roberts (her niece) and her class of 2017 will never forget the day Aunt Dolores came to school. It will always be a special day in all our hearts and locked into our memories forever.

I was most privileged to call Dolores Mom. She was a wonderful mother-in-law and treated me like a daughter instead of an in law. She always included my family in events and set a good example for me to follow; as a mom and as a mother-in-law. She was one in a million. Loved a good party, family and friends. She helped raise my children and I will forever be grateful to her. Yesterday she joined my father-law, the love of her life, and so now they are finally together. Rest in peace mom. Say hello to dad for us. We will miss you but will carry on because of all the love you graciously shared with us. ❤️
