Obituary of Robert Nicholas Felice

Felice, Robert Nicholas age 90 Beloved Husband of Helen Cherished father of Bob (Dale), Tom (Mary), Carol (Vic) and Chris (Eileen) Loving Grandfather, "Poppo", to Tommy, Ronnie, Bobby, Matt, Taylor, Blaise, Skye, Justice, Chris, Joe, Matt, Dominique and Nick Loving Great Grandfather, "Poppo", to Madison, Riley, Peyton, Ronnie, Juliet, Scottie, Gianna and Alyssa Dear brother of Ronnie (Maria) Robert Nicholas Felice was born in Brooklyn on September 16, 1931, to Robert and Rita Felice. Dad was raised in Brooklyn living most of his pre-married life in a Catholic home with extended family @ 132 E31st Street in Flatbush. That would likely explain the importance that he placed on having a tight knit, close family. Dad attended PS181, Erasmus Hall HS, and St, John’s University, on scholarship, graduating with a bachelor’s degree and ultimately earning a PHD to become Dr. Bob. He grew up an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan and idolized Pee Wee Reese. He met his future wife, our mom, Helen, in 1953. They were engaged on the day Mom graduated from HS and married 6 months later on June 25, 1955. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. He and mom had 4 children; Robert, Thomas, Carol and Christopher. We grew up very fortunate, surrounded by love, instilled with a strong set of values and never wanting for anything. We grew up observing a beautiful relationship that helped us form our own relationships in life. Dad loved mom more than anything and wanted nothing more than to be with her and spend time together. Our father taught us about dignity, humility, kindness, caring, love, integrity and to always be there for one another. We have been fortunate to share those lessons with our spouses and to pass those lessons down to our own children. His legacy includes 13 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren who lovingly refer to him as Poppo! Losing a spouse, parent, or grandparent is never easy, regardless of their age or physical condition. You lose a piece of you that, in some respects, you will never get back. We are grateful for 67 years of love and cherished memories that he shared with mom. We are grateful for the wonderful childhoods we were given. We are thankful for the educations that were provided for us. We are thankful for the wisdom, the Grace, and the love that you showed to us throughout our lives. We are thankful that you embraced those that we chose to love. We are grateful that you shared all of those wonderful qualities with our children and grandchildren. We are grateful to have all been together during your final hours, surrounding you with as much comfort and love as we could. We know that you have gone off to a better place, without pain, sorrow, or grief. We are strengthened by that fact and will not dwell on the loss of such a wonderful man. Rather, we will rise up and smile, celebrating the life of a one of a kind man who made all of our worlds a better place to be. We will always be thinking about you, knowing you will be looking down on us, and we will continue to try to make you proud in all that we do. May you rest in eternal peace beloved husband, cherished dad, Poppo… Donations may be made in Roberts name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Boys Town.
