Charles Thomas Peifer March 19, 1976 – September 1, 2022 It is with profound sadness that the family of Charles Thomas Peifer announce his unexpected passing on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 46. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his father, Charles; brother, Timothy; sister-in-law, Cheryl, as well as, numerous relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his father and brother. Charles had a great passion for photography. He always wanted to capture the special moments at family gatherings and had a keen ability to communicate the heart and feeling of people through his photos. He was able to photograph the best of people, nature, and the locations that he traveled to. He took great pride in photographing the Tribute in Light at the 9/11 Memorial. Throughout high school and college, Charles excelled in sports, especially in Track and Cross Country, winning the Penn Relays and Nationals, as well as receiving a full scholarship to St. John’s University. After the completion of his bachelor’s degree, he worked in marketing and traveled to each of the lower 48 states – taking photos along the way. Over time, he felt called to do something for the greater good, and found this calling when joining the NYPD in 2006. Charles proudly served the Housing Bureau, the 79th Precinct, and the 111th Precinct. Charles rose in the ranks to Sergeant and then to Lieutenant. He humbly served the communities in which he served and protected. His dedication to community service earned him several accolades, to include the 79th Precinct Cop of the Year in 2018.
