Amanda Robinson

Obituary of Amanda Mae Robinson

Amanda Mae Robinson, age 22, of Bellmore, New York, sadly passed away on April 19, 2023. She was born on September 12, 2000, to her proud parents Walter and Sandra Robinson. She was a loving sister to Jonathan and Lauren. Amanda was cherished by her grandmother Doris Robinson as well as her grandparents who predeceased her, Adam and Barbara Krause and Walter J. Robinson, Jr. She was a beloved niece, cousin and friend. From an early age, Amanda was an old soul with a big heart who cared about others. She was always interested in helping the less fortunate. Her focus was on knowledge, compassion and peace rather than material items. She was inquisitive, was always investigating something, and enjoyed a good debate. Amanda also loved and respected nature and was very adventurous. Amanda stated in one of her college application essays that there was a time when she felt lost until she joined the Civil Air Patrol in the tenth grade. This program was a challenge for her at first; but due to her persistence, she overcame the challenge and emerged a leader with heightened determination and passion to serve her country. She took pilot lessons, aspired to go to college and then join the Navy. However, she was hit with another challenge – narcolepsy. This disorder derailed her dreams. Nonetheless, Amanda persisted and did not let narcolepsy define her or hold her back. She mapped out a new journey and found her home away from home, the place where she would grow in every way and satisfy her thirst for knowledge, helping others and serving her country. Amanda enrolled in the Massachusetts Maritime Academy majoring in Emergency Management with a minor in Homeland Security, and a minor in Marine Science, Safety and Environmental Protection. Respectively, she completed internships relevant to her major and two minors at: Canaveral Port Authority (Cape Canaveral, FL); Church World Service (Lancaster, PA) a resettlement organization assisting refugees, immigrants, asylum-seekers seeking safety and the opportunity to rebuild their lives in the United States; and UG2 (Boston, MA). She excelled and exceeded expectations in the EM Program through her hard work and dedication. She became a part of the EMS Corps. In addition to her studies, she was a volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands. Amanda was a true patriot who was respected and admired by her peers. She accomplished so much in a short time. She touched and inspired many lives in so many ways. Amanda and her smile will be missed dearly but will forever be in our hearts.
