Obituary of Mary Roepken

Mary Nora Patricia Cecilia Bennett Roepken, born February 19, 1935 passed January 14, 2019.  She was a loving wife, mother to six, grandmother to 14 and great grandmother of two. Mary married Arnold William Roepken January 5, 1957.  

 

Mary graduated from Saint Saviour catholic school in Brooklyn before completing her Registered Nurse from Kings County.  After raising her children, she returned for a BS in Nursing from St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue. She had a career of over 40 years as a nurse including time at Kings County Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and Stonybrook University Hospital.

She was an active community member with the Boy Scouts, PTA and the Freeport Yacht Club.  Mary enjoyed traveling, cooking, boating, entertaining her family, spending time on the beach and watching sunsets.  She continued her interest in education through the Molloy Institute for Lifetime Learning along with her husband Arnold.

 

A devout Christian, she is survived by her husband of 62 years Arnold, sister Aileen, children Wesley, Gregory, Daniel, Stasia, Timothy, grandchildren Christine, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Daniel Jr, Christopher, Joseph, Nicholas, Michael, Alissa, Logan, Annalin, Anton, Gianina, Giuliana, great grandchildren Ryan and Ethan.  And in loving memory of her beloved daughter Melissa.
