Obituary of Paul J. Plack

OR YOUTUBE Paul Joseph Plack, 92 Maspeth and Bellmore, NY passed away on February 14, 2021 at Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, NY. Funeral service will be held at Saint Barnabas the Apostle Church, 2320 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore NY on February 22, 2021 at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, NY at 1:30 pm. Visitation will be held at Clair S. Bartholomew & Son Funeral Home, 302 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore NY on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Paul was born in Maspeth, NY to Frank and Marie Plack on March 20, 1928. He attended Newtown High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1949 and was awarded four medals: Good Conduct, WWII Victory, Asiatic Pacific Model, and the Occupation Service Model, plus the China Service Ribbon. Most of his adult life, he was a driver for Sealtest Ice Cream, and later as Executive Chauffeur for Phillip Morris. In addition to Bowling, his main past time was socializing with his many friends, often at the Kowalinski Post, in Maspeth, where for many years he held the title of Commander and was also the Chief Chef, cooking and catering for the Posts affairs and events. Paul is survived by daughters Ruth Menelly Miklos, Jean Donaldson and Margaret Breitinger; grandchildren Douglas Menelly, Melissa Menelly DiVico, Jeffrey Menelly, Keith Donaldson, Kimberly Donaldson, Michael Breitinger, Jamie Breitinger Couvaris, Justin Breitinger, Nicki Breitinger Rienzie, Krystal DeStasio, Jesse DeStasio, Dana DeStasio, and Jason DeStasio; plus 12 great grand children. He is preceded in death by beloved wives Mildred Brown Plack and Joan Campbell Plack and his cherished daughter Anne DeStasio. Memorial donations may be made to Long Island State Veterans Home, Stony Brook, NY.
